Water is a precious resource, and it wasn’t until the July 2007 floods in Gloucestershire that it really hit home. It might seem like we have oodles of rain, but actually some parts of England have less available per person than someone is Spain or Australia!! Water is a necessity to sustain our lifestyles and adequately provide each person with sufficient water. Therefore, we need to start acting upon this now................... and we need your help!

As a dedicated union to sustainability, we want each person: student, staff member or anyone in our reach to think about their water usage and cut it down where possible. Naomi and I, your Sustainability and Environment Executives will be at Refreshers Fayre informing you about the importance of using water cautiously and giving you free products to help you do so. We have sourced shower timers, save-a-flush bags, hippo bags and tap inserts. These very effective and simple products will help you cut down your water wastage, for instance the save-a-flush bag will save you one litre of water per flush, it only takes a couple of seconds to install...... it’s as easy as that.

We, as executives, supported by the union feel saving water is an important aspect of sustainability, which underpins every aspect of our lives.
