Students’ Union Council

The students are in control!!

What is Students’ Union Council? –

Students’ Union council is the main decision making forum of the union. It brings together 40 students from across the university, plus the elected Students’ Union Executive officers, to shape, direct and develop your students’ union. The union is in your hands; through council you are able to tell us what we should be doing, by passing motions and shaping the work of your elected officers.

Council will meet six times per academic year to discuss, debate and decision make!

Why should I bother joining? –

Without members on students’ Union Council, we have no idea what your priorities are. You union needs to be fighting for you, so we use council as a forum to find out what we should be doing to represent your views to the university. Without your voices, we can’t function!

Need more reasons? :

Uphold Student Representation – Ensure students continue to run their Students' Union
Responsibility – You will represent your peers on major decisions
Make our Students' Union better – You shape its future
Support - full training and support from the Students' Union
Experience – A great way to develop your skills and improve your CV
New Friends! – You'll get to meet and debate with students from all backgrounds

I’m up for getting involved! But how? –

If you are interested in nominating yourself to be a member of SU Council, all you need to do is send an email to Cassie Agbehenu, Representation and Democracy Co-Ordinator, on cagbehenu@glos.ac.uk. Include your name, course, and level of study.

We look forward to working with you!
